There was a game called devil’s game and became the talk of various Internet community board about one month ago. It is the Sid Meier's Civilization V.

Sid Meier's Civilization V (also known as Civilization 5) is a turn-based strategy computer game released on Microsoft Windows in September 2010 and on Mac OS X on November 23, 2010. It is the latest game in the Civilization series. In this game, the player leads a civilization from prehistoric times into the future on a procedurally-generated map, achieving one of a number of different victory conditions through research, diplomacy, expansion, economic development, government and military conquest.

Not long ago, I also took part in this flow. First, I didn’t understand that this game called devil’s game why. The more I play game, however, the more addicted. It is highly addictive rather than itself is fun. I think that the most attractive part of Civilization V is a number of different victory conditions like diplomacy and development of science technology. In addition, the historical background of this game is not real world history. Furthermore, events which happened in this game had occurred in a real world. For example, The Apollo project which was plan for going to moon or The Manhattan project which is planning to making nuclear weapon existed in the past. Like this event, you can learn world history while playing the game. But, if you play the game for the learning of history is something like funny thing, you just waste your time!

Today is a holiday to me!

But I have a test tomorrow. So, I am studying........

Just a few times ago on 27, Guangzhou Asian Games began on 12 came to an end. The event was held in Guangzhou, China. 45 countries which had 14,454 players including Korean participated in total 42 games. We won 76 gold, 65 silver, 91 bronze and hold the second rank although we didn’t take the No.1 ranking. Even more surprising was that taking the second rank in Asian Games is not first time, we already took it four times in a row. It is very proud.

The most impressive thing in the Guangzhou Asian Games was a player who won 2 gold medals in shooting. She is seven months pregnant and expectant mother. In addition, Rain, a Korean singer, appeared exclusively on stage in the closing ceremony. This shows that our country has much influence in Asia. But, the sad thing is Park Tae-hwan who won seven medals in swimming wasn’t voted MVP at The Asian Games in Guangzhou. Some people complained that they’re not able to watch their favorite program because Asian Games, but, I think that this is more important, more proud and more valuable. I could feel the players’ passion and ambition and I could look tears and joy by watching the Guangzhou Asian games. I am very proud of the players of our country regardless of holding medals.

I look forward to having good results in 2014 Inchoen Asian Games and the Olympic Games or World Cup match like the results of the Guangzhou Asian Games.

In modern society, ‘Social Network Services’ is very powerful. We define social network services as web-based services that allow individuals to construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system. The nature and nomenclature of these connections may vary from site to site. Recently, ‘The Social Network’, a 2010 drama film about the founding of the Internet social networking website Facebook and the resulting lawsuits is released in Korea. In addition, the media says that trend of companies marketing is the SNS marketing. Like this, now Social Network Services are attracted world attention.   

Korea’s representative SNS is Cyworld. Above this, Twitter, Facebook and Me2day are in the spotlight as a new SNS of Korea. I use Cyworld, too. I inform news about me for my friends by using cyworld. Cyworld has a characteristic called ‘Ilchon’. This is bunched together like following of other SNS. I think that, it is difficult to approach for unspecified individuals in Cyworld. The most of visitors is person that I know. But, this characteristic is advantage for me because I care informing my privacy. So, most writing postings of my cyworld are opened only for my ilchon. When winter vacation is coming, I want to use other SNS like twitter, because they have particular things each. Especially twitter, we can use this in mobile phone. If you have watched special movie and you want to announce that your friends, you just write them in your mobile message and upload that. Like these situations, SNS is changing our personal life. Therefore I recommend you use SNS.

“I will go wherever the poor people exist, even if there is moon.” This saying is said Mother Teresa. When I worried about college entrance examination, I accidentally watched a movie about her. Her saying gave big impression to me and I chose the department of social welfare. I always interested in volunteering, especially external volunteer work because my major is social welfare. Fortunately, I heard that there is mural painting volunteer activity by friend a few days ago. Therefore, I applied the program and then I was selected that by a volunteer worker. So, yesterday I did a volunteer work in Young-seo elementary school. This activity is hosted by KT&G welfare foundation and called ‘Dream in Painting’ which paint on the elementary school’s wall. Young-seo elementary school is located in guro-gu, Seoul. It is distant from Seongbuk-gu where I am living. So, I was little late but staff was very kind, and they gave me something useful tools for that volunteering like name tag, apron, gloves and wristlet. After that, I went the place where our team is and started activity in earnest. If I am poor in painting, it is OK. This work is that just paints on sketch which is drawn by art student. It is very simple, easy and fun. Theme of mural painting is four seasons; our group took charge of summer. After this volunteering, I not only get a proof about my activity but also meet new people. Moreover, I take a book which give for volunteer worker at KT&G company. I was proud of imagination that children are glad due to exuberant wall rather than flat wall by this activity. If I have a chance to participate in the future, I will take part in this activity.

The Pepero day, one of the all South Korea's event days will come soon. Approaching Pepero Day, companies raced to promote related products to market. Actually, now, we can often find this on the street. Almost every month has events like Pepero Day in Korea. Some of them are black day on April 14, rose day on May 14, kiss day on June 14 and so on. November 11 is Pepero Day. Pepero Day was originated from exchanging the Korean cookies named "Pepero" which contains kind of Korean trend about keeping the slim body shape between the middle school girls in Pusan-Youngnam since 10 years ago. Teenagers send a message says "I wish your success on diet" and give these peperoes which decorated as bouquet as gifts or eat these instead of a meal and wish to have such a slim legs. But now, Pepero Day was consolidated its meaning as event which lovers or friends express their mind each other such as Valentine's Day. Frankly speaking, I have a negative view about this event. As mentioned before, the origin of this event is from the innocent mind of girls. But companies degrade it. Moreover, they extend and solidify one of the events it. Usually, event days are born by business ability of companies. There are many people who think like me. A survey result of a job portal site for college students shows that respondent of 82.6% said "Pepero Day is nothing but a mere business skill of companies." When I was young, I participated in this event, too. But, in retrospect, I always threw away most of Peperos which get from friends. It’s just waste of money. I think that celebrating meaningful anniversaries such as birthday is best.

In recent years, a television program largely issued in South Korea. It is ‘Superstar K 2’ which finished recently. This program is similar to ‘American Idol’ in the U.S and broadcasted on cable broadcasting network Mnet, KM. This program proceeds in the form of public audition and only qualify who passed first round preliminary. Then, they participate in 2, 3round preliminary which held on Incheon, Daegu, Gwangju, Chuncheon, Jeju, Busan and Seoul. Finally, final qualifiers take part in Seoul SUPER WEEK which determines the TOP 11. In the purpose that select superstar, Mnet and KM provide variety of benefits such as 200 million won and QM5 vehicles, luxury album release and the 2010 MAMA stage appearance chance. This program was first broadcasted in 2009, thanks to its popularity comes season 2. Frankly speaking, I never watched this program. But, everywhere in the internet and in the cafes people said about this program. Therefore I well know about this program of story, contents, songs, even personal privacy in the program. I watched top 3’s stages in the rewind program in internet except John-park’s stage. It was so amazing and terrific to me because I felt their souls and passions in the program. It was quiet pity thing that the only one guy survives in this program. That's because the purpose of the program not because their skills were poor. But they didn’t need to sad about this. They gained popularity and fame in this program and become success in the future.

The weather is getting colder and colder. I feel that winter is approaching. I didn’t think about my favorite season before. Now, but, I definitely prefer winter season rather than other seasons. Despite of the biting cold, a bad cold and others, the reasons that I prefer winter are many and varied.

First reason is Christmas. Whoever may says “You could say that, because you have a boyfriend (or girlfriend)!” I agree that it is true, but not exactly. Christmas is everyone’s festival. It is not strange to spend Christmas with whomever. Actually, at last Christmas, I had worked in Domino’s Pizza. I was very busy from morning to night. After closing up, but, I enjoyed the simple Christmas party with family of Domino’s pizza. We ate pizza hot from the oven and coke. It is a special memory.

Second, in winter, dressing is an easy.    Many people who interest in fashion worry about dressing every morning except for student which wears uniform. In winter, I have no need for thinking about that because I can coordinate various styles using few items. In summer, t-shirts and pants is the end of dressing. But in winter, if you wear t-shirts and pants which wore yesterday, it looks like totally new clothes by what you wear coat, muffler and hat. But, it is sad that winter clothes are more expensive than other season’s clothes.

Last reason is winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. Do you like winter sports? I am bad at sports. So, whenever I play winter sports, my body was covered in bumps and bruises. But, I like it.

I hope this winter is very happy days.

You know one of the most famous Korean foods, Kimchi. Every Korean eats this food and most of them like it. This food, Kimchi, has one particular thing. The Kimjang which is storage ceremony for kimchi is held every year to year. But this Kimjang ceremony is threaten by soaring value of cabbage. According to statistics a cabbage price rose nearly 5 times compared to last year. Saying the real number of this, last year we only need 100,000won for kimjang, but now we need 450,000won for kimjang. This shocking price had adverse effects in many ways. One of the problems is ordering food. In past, requesting more kimchi is not charged, but now you need extra pay for ordering kimchi in some restaurant.

 Solving this problem the South Korean government has come up with a countermeasure that Chinese cabbage is imported directly from China. The government said that The China cabbage is cheap in comparison with Korea. So the price will go down. However, this policy is not getting the support of the people who consume cabbage. Because deep-rooted distrust of China vegetable. This is from one occasion which is the 2005 importing cabbage from china. At that time, a parasite found in Chinese cabbage.

 Some people argue that Kimjnag crisis from the government policy, four-river restoration project which is Lee Myung-bak government's core business. They said that Because of this project, crop cultivation area was reduced. This reduction in crop area decreased the production of cabbage. So, Prices are going up.

Journal 2

Nowadays, I'm very busy every day. For that reason, I'm very tired mentally and physically.

Now, the thing which is forming a great part of things that I am doing is festival preparation. On October 5, At the College of Human Ecology's night, our department is going to appear on the stage. I belong to team which does cheerleading. So, our team continuously practices from 2 weeks ago whenever we have time. Suddenly, but, we had to change everything, including song, choreography, costume. Seniors didn't like our choice. More to the point, we have only one week! It seems to be that they don't consider our situation absolutely. Both seniors and our team members hope to show wonderful performance to everyone, but all members are more and more exhausting. Aside from these, I’m taking part in ‘The Donghaeng Project’. It is a kind of education volunteer work and shortened form of ‘younger brother (or sister) happy project’. I have to teach three students, they are the 6^th grade in Beondong Elementary School. I have met my students once yet. But, I think that first meeting was not good. They are rude and don’t listen to my words carefully without one student. I have second meeting this Friday with my students. Frankly speaking, but, I feel tough and stuffy. In addition to, a lot of assignment and the cold are hard things to me, too. I’m very exhausted.

As soon as possible, finishing all of these things without any problems is my desire.

     2 weeks ago Friday, I went to Lotte Cinema located Konkuk University station with my boyfriend to watch movie. I saw a movie called “The borrower Arrietty”, an animation film made by world-famous Japan’s animation production Studio Ghibli which made various masterpiece animation such as “My Neighbor Totoro”, “The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro”, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi. This movie revolves around a 10-centimeter-tall girl Arrietty and based on The Borrowers by English children’s author Mary Norton. Anyway, I and my boyfriend usually feel interest in Studio Ghibli’s animation, so we expected a lot. In fact, watching the animation in theater is first time, maybe. Movie’s first scene describes that Shou(hero) found out Arrietty hiding in bush. In the movie, she puts a clothespin instead of hairpin. It got my attention. And a housekeeper which appeared in the movie shows human’s greedy mind. When she captured Arrietty’s Mother, I feel mixed emotions because I think that a housekeeper represents modern human. I feel bitter… Anyhow, I generally enjoyed the movie. Scene that a crow struggled because it got jammed in mosquito net was funniest scene. But, If anyone asked me ‘What’s the movie’s best thing?’, I will answer O.S.T. Sound occupies big parts to me. This movie’s O.S.T directed by Cecile Corbel. I feel surprise because I thought that Hisaishi Joe takes charge of music director, originally. In any case, I feel satisfactory all of O.S.T tracks. So, I added it in my music playlist. I’m looking forward to watch Studio Ghibli’s next animation.
